MEET DR. RENEE MCFARLAND



Dr. Renee McFarland has served as the Kleist Health Education Center’s Executive Director for the 16 years. The Kleist Health Education Center is located on Florida Gulf Coast University’s campus in Fort Myers, Florida. Renee taught health and physical education in the public-school setting for 13 years before moving to the community health services environment. She holds a Master of Education Degree in Community Health Education, Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and received her doctoral degree in education, May 2013.
Renee received her Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. Currently, she is working as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern at Time Out Counseling providing psychotherapy services for children, teens, adults, and families with challenging mental health issues. Renee’s area of emphasis is working with young children, adolescents, adults, transgender/non-conforming individuals, and families, as they move through challenging life transitions. In addition, Renee works with middle school and high school athletes to help them improve their competitive performance. Her clinical specialty is in the areas of : Gender Dysphoria and addiction(s) diagnosis. Her choice of therapy is integrative; using Interpersonal, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Choice, and Motivational Interviewing therapeutic modalities. She has been a member of the American Counseling Association since 2016.
